Orientation at UNCW
Its that time already- Orientation!! Both my parents joined along on this start to the college experience. June 15th and 16th, this two-day orientation consisted of sessions with influential speakers, experiencing staying overnight in the dorms, eating on the meal plan, getting more familiar with campus, and registering for classes. While we were up in North Carolina, we also had the opportunity to meet up with my family's close friends, Karen and Craig Riedemann. Fortunately they will be only 30-45 minutes away from campus if I need anything! After this orientation, I am so looking forward to moving in!!
Wicked!
For my 18th Birthday, my parents bought me tickets to see Wicked in San Antonio as a "mother/daughter" trip this summer. A few of you might ask, "Why San Antonio?"....simply because it is coming to Austin right when I leave for college.
After a drive up to San Antonio, we unloaded our bags for the night in our hotel room at The Valencia, and then headed downstairs to the hotel's fancy restaurant, known as, The Citrus. My mom and I both were dressed fancy for the show and enjoyed the same meal, consisting of Mahi-Mahi, rice and scallops. Very delicious! Then we headed over to the Majestic Theatre, which was literally a minute walk from our hotel.his show was absolutely AMAZING!!!! Such outstanding vocal performances and the lighting and effects were so fabulous. After the show ended around 11pm, we headed back to our hotel room, talked for a bit, and then crashed. The next morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast outside of The Citrus and then walked around The Riverwalk for about 45 minutes until the heat started setting in. After our walk, we packed up and headed to the Witi Museum and Paesanos for lunch. Such a nice weekend!!
Zilker Park's Music Man!
To celebrate my best friend Grace's 18th Birthday, she invited us to have a picnic dinner and watch Zilker Park's The Music Man. Every year Zilker Park throws a musical during the summer in Austin, but I've never had the opportunity to attend any in the past. While Austin always gives off its heat so generously, the evening was still so much fun and the play was really great!! If you haven't ever attended Zilker Park's shows, I definitely recommend you do so in the future!!
Midnight Harry Potter Premiere!
Harry Potter 6 Midnight Premiere!!! What a night. Celebrating my friend Johanna's 18th Birthday, eight of us joined along for a continuation of the Harry Potter series. Having not ever been a huge fan of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books myself, I still have kept up with all five of the movies. Arriving at Johanna's house before the movie, we took part in a beautiful birthday cake followed by receiving our own Harry Potter glasses! Yes, the "real" Harry Potter glasses- which we all wore into the theater! We also were given these creative jars filled with half Harry Potter Jelly Beans and half normal jelly beans. The Harry Potter jelly beans consisted of a mystery- pretty gross flavors and some not-so-bad flavors. To give you an idea of what the gross ones included, vomit, boogers, grass, pepper, sour milk, moldy egg, and baby wipes were some of them. With the movie beginning at midnight, we were out of there by 2:45 am...but it was lots of fun sharing a nice evening together and staying up late for such a popular movie. Here are some cute photos of the night.
Austin's Well Known Home Slice Pizza!
Well, as everyone has mentioned over and over, Home Slice Pizza is the best place in town for a delicious meal. Having not tried this place out until this summer, I was surely amazed at how great this place really is. Set downtown on Congress Avenue, my best friends Grace, Kendall, Johanna, Nicole and I set off to enjoy a nice lunch. Here are two cute photos taken on this day. I certainly recommend giving this place a try!!
