Home for Thanksgiving

Last night, my four best friends and I reunited at the Cheney's house for a potluck dinner! It was SO good to see everyone again and catch up with all our experiences in college so far. Some interesting roommate stories were certainly a highlight of the night. Laughing together and being with one another again was such a great feeling.

Ashlyn's House!

This past weekend, I had the chance to go home with my roommate, Ashlyn and visit her family! The purpose for going home with her primarily was to go to this event called the Carolina Christmas Show, in Raleigh. It is held in a big convention center and holds approximately 200 vendors that came and sold items of all kinds. From jewelry to chocolate covered peanuts, to mops and ornaments to monogrammed items, this event was a blast!! A great way to knock out some Christmas gifts, thats for sure!!! :) We ended up spending 3 1/2 hours walking around and checking it all out. Family Pictures!

Over my fall break, my parents and I took our church photo for WHPC. It was nice getting the opportunity to get it taken after so many years since our last one, as well as spending time together for it! Here are the three we purchased! The one of all 3 of us will be seen in the Church Directory.

Basketball game!

First basketball game of the season, a few girls and I attended, and it was so much fun! While it was just an exhibition game, it still was fun going to watch the team play and see what its all about! Definitely different than the usual football games, but nevertheless super fun!

Ashlyn as Sarah Palin for Halloween!

The Friday before Halloween, Ashlyn went to a Campus Crusade for Christ Halloween Dance Party and dressed up as Sarah Palin. I helped her get ready and made a flag for her. I thought she looked pretty cute and quite like Sarah herself! :) Here is a photo~

Halloween Decorations!

For a halloween package, I received some Halloween Candy Corn lights! I put them up just last night and they look sooooo cute! Great way to start celebrating the holiday! Outside our door, Ashlyn bought some Halloween streamers!

Fall Break in Austin, TX!!!!

Fall Break finally arrived!!!! I had been counting down the days for weeks since I arrived, and when it did I was more excited than ever. While it flew by WAY too fast, I still so happy I could come home and visit. Mom looked GREAT-which was so encouraging. My dad and I played our favorite Double Solitaire game numerous times, we went to Matt's El Rancho for lunch on Saturday (my first time there ever...crazy to say as I've lived in Texas all my life!), The Oasis for lunch on Sunday, Yogurt Planet on Sunday afternoon, saw my friend Kendall for a bit, went with my parents to Starbucks for coffee twice, saw Nana for an hour on Sunday afternoon, watched several good movies with my parents at night, and had my three favorite meals prepared for each dinner (Salmon, asparagus and couscous on Saturday; Vegetarian Lasanga and fruit on Sunday; King Ranch Chicken and fruit on Monday. Absolutely the best three meals I've had in the longest time! :) Thanks Mom. Here are some pictures I took throughout the weekend- most from The Oasis!

Christi's Beach House for the Night

The weekend before I came home to Austin for Fall Break, my friend Christi invited my roommate Ashlyn and I to join along with her to her beach house just 45 min from campus for the night. It was SO much fun to just get away from campus for a night and enjoy a relaxing night away from the noise the residence halls always provide. We stopped at a Mexican Restaurant for dinner just 5 min from her house and then put on our PJS and watched two scary movies I brought along ( The Hand that Rocks the Cradle & The Glass House). We were so tired we all slept in till 10 AM!!! Thats amazing for me, considering I am such an early riser. Here are two pictures I took of the house. Its not really so much a "Beach house" but more her grandparents house whom passed away. The first is the living room we watched our movies in, and the second is the bed I slept in! :)

Kilwins!

Last weekend, my roommate, friend and I, went to Kilwin's Ice Cream Downtown! It was soooo delicious- best ice cream ever!!! They had never been there before, so I thought I would introduce them to the best dessert in town. I had the opportunity to try this place with my family when we came for Orientation in June, so it had been a while since I last had some. I ordered half coconut and half apple pie flavored ice cream. :)

Halloween Package!!

Yesterday, I received an AMAZING package from The Cheney Family! Already looking forward to Halloween, they provided me with so many fun things for the holiday. The package consisted of Candy Corn colored Halloween lights to hang in my room, a mini jack-o-lantern for my desk, stickers, glow stick bracelets, and Candy!!

Addition to Dorm Room!! I went to Michael's, over Labor Day Weekend, and found these three cute painted words!! Only spent $3 and they match perfectly with our curtain. One of my favorite phrases, this is a great addition to our dorm! :)

Labor Day Weekend Getaway

As Labor Day approached rather quickly, I enjoyed some time to myself which was nice, as well as got off campus for some good meals!! :) I am already getting sick of the meal plan...haha, so I figured this was the perfect excuse to get out and explore what Wilmington has to offer!! Here is a picture of the best Mahi Mahi fish sandwich I got at a restaurant by the water, called, Bluewater. I brought my paper I had to complete for English with me, and ended up staying there enjoying the water and great weather for literally 2 hours. The waitress must thought I was nuts! :) Also included is a picture of the boats!! It was a really fun place to spend a nice afternoon at.

Move-in Day at UNCW

Extremely late to post this, I was looking through my photos and found two cute photos from my move-in day to UNCW. I can't believe it will be 4 weeks tomorrow since then!!

Another Outing...a little late to post!

While I know this outing occurred about a week and a half ago, I figured it was still a really cute photo to share with everyone!!! This was a night that some girls wanted to go to this club and the theme was "Sexy in white"....I really didn't feel comfortable going, as I've never done clubbing before. I was finally convinced, although I didnt have anything white to wear. Lots of girls were wearing black and white, so that's what I ended up putting together instead. Seen almost as a miracle, the driver (next door neighbor in my dorm) forgot her ID, so we had to turn around and go back. So....luckily I didnt have to experience this outing really, other than dressing up. Anyway....long story short, this was a pretty cute photo I thought. The picture (L to R) is my roommate, Ashlyn, and then neighbors, Logan and Lexie, and myself.

Cornerstone Floor Dinner!

Last Friday night, the girls on Cornerstone floor 2 (our side), went out for dinner to a restaurant called, Mellow Mushroom. We all dressed up a bit, so that was really fun. Mellow Mushroom is known for their pizza- so I went ahead and took people's word on that and ordered Pineapple Pizza. It was surely delicious and a GREAT change from the Dining Hall here on Campus. It was fun getting to meet new people that I hadn't already met before, and spending some time with one another over a nice meal was really neat. Here are some pictures of the night! The first is in our residence hall with some of the close girls I know....and then the big group photo is EVERYONE on our side of Cornerstone floor 2. I am kinda hidden unfortunately in the back left. Sorry.... :)

UNCW Beach Blast!

UNCW always holds a "Beach Blast" every year for all students Freshman-Seniors, down at Wrightsville Beach. There were shuttles running back and forth to bring students to the beach so that we wouldnt have to worry about finding parking and what not. It was such a fun event- my roommate and I, and two other girls on our floor went and enjoyed hanging out by the water and getting to spend time on such a beautiful afternoon. Despite the ridiculous amount of people all lined up in the water and on the sand, it was a neat event to experience. Hope I got some sun! :)

Also included is a picture of all the people on the beach and then a photo of a reggae band we had playing in the Wagoner Dining Hall that night following the Beach Blast. UNCW set up a "Hawaiian theme" in the dining hall which included tropical foods, smoothies and music!

College Life has Begun!

Well, as you can see from the pictures, I am all moved in!! I took many shots of the dorm from all sides so you all can see what it really looks like! I was so lucky to be in what most would say the nicest dorm on campus. My side is the dark purple with lime green pillow, and my roommate Ashlyn's is the light purple and brown! I miss everyone a whole bunch- it will probably take some time to get adjusted and all but once classes start tomorrow, I bet my time will be full of studying and such!
